Letter from The President Sycamore Township IAFF 3907 works daily with the Township and residents to make Sycamore Township the safest place to live, work and have a business. We meet several challenges on a day to day bases, through the ongoing communications and efforts of the Township and Union we over come obstructions and meet these challenges. Our goal is to make sure the people and property of our residents and businesses are protected and at the time of need we respond in a professional manner to assist there needs.We as a Union are looking at several things happening at the local, state and federal levels of our government. This is a ongoing effort to protect our firefighter and there families today and in the future. Fire Fighter staffing levels are the biggest problem facing us today this problem is felt at a national level, our task have grown from being a firefighter to handling emergencies such as hazardous materials, technical rescue, weapons of mass destruction, and emergency medical calls. Entry into building on fire today is completely different then 20 years ago. With the contents we put in our homes and businesses, things burn faster and building materials have changed. Today a structure can go from a small one room burn to a complete structure in a matter of minutes. We are than tasked with the protection of life, property and our firefighters; we need to have the number of firefighters on the scene to protect ourselves.As you see our firefighters in the public, please address them with any concerns, or comments you have and please don’t forget to tell them Thanks for there work we are there for you and will always work on your behalf. Sycamore Township IAFF Local 3907©Sycamore township firefighters association 2004
